This article outlines the process to have parcels cleared in NZ when sent using DDU shipping terms.
Our CS handle the clearance with our NZ broker to have high-value shipments cleared, see below on the stages of clearance.
Parcel held in AU to NZ
- Our warehouse/operations will scan parcel upon processing exports. If a parcel exceeds the threshold an alert is displayed to indicate high-value, this is put aside and held in our facility. Tracking will indicate 'HELD AT EXPORT HUB DUE TO HIGH VALUE'.
- Our CS team will contact your customer regarding held with a breakdown of estimated charges and clearance requirements to confirm how the receiver would like to proceed. If SEKO do not have the receivers email within our database, we will reach out to the senders CS team.
- Once confirmation is provided and all clearance requirements are on hand, SEKO will have this processed for shipping and shipped to NZ. CS will also send all required clearance docs and information to our broker. Tracking will indicate ' PROCESSED THROUGH EXPORT HUB and INTERNATIONAL TRANSIT TO DESTINATION COUNTRY'.
- Upon arrival in NZ, our broker will have clearance lodged. Clearance on high values should take 2-4 days.
- Once cleared our NZ broker will provide us the NZ customs invoice to create the payment link for the receiver.
- Once paid our NZ team will have parcel scanned to show 'CUSTOMS CLEARED' on tracking and hand over to file-mile carrier to complete delivery.

There are times where parcels may slip through to NZ without prior held at origin. This occurs when the NZ customs interest rate changes and marks shipment as high-value upon arrival.
